Call for winter program instructors/leaders!

Stonebridge, we’re looking for instructors/leaders for our winter 2016 programming!

PAID POSITIONS:

“Run, jump and throw” (basic movement)

  • Participant age: Toddler 2 & 3 years old (parent assisted)
  • Roll duties: Prepare activities and lead the group
  • Requirement: Fitness certification not required
  • Commitment: 1 hr per week / 10 weeks (Jan, Feb, Mar)

“Girls on the move” and “Guys on the go” programs (basic introduction to different sports)

  • Participant age: 10 – 16 years old
  • Roll duties: Prepare activities and lead the group
  • Requirement: Fitness certification not required
  • Commitment: 1 hr per week / 10 weeks (Jan, Feb, Mar)

Learn to garden

  • Participant age: 18+
  • Roll duties: Prepare lessons and lead the group
  • Requirement: Master Gardner Certification
  • Commitment: 1 hr per week / 8 weeks (Feb, Mar)

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

Book club leader

  • Participant age: 18+
  • Role duties: to choose the book(s) and lead conversation
  • Commitment: 1 hr per week / 10 weeks (Jan, Feb, Mar)

A 5K walk club leader, a 5K run club leader and a 10K run club leader

  • Participant age: 18+
  • Role duties: prepare a route map for the group and choose a meeting location
  • Commitment: 1 hr per week / 10 weeks (Mar, Apr, May)

Stonebridge Trade and Craft Show

Calling all home based businesses! Stonebridge Community Association is putting on a Christmas themed trade and craft show and YOU are invited to showcase your home-based small business, including network marketing companies,  artisans and bakers.

  • WHEN – Saturday, November 21, 10am – 4pm (time is tentative)
  • WHERE – Circle Drive Alliance Church (Preston Ave, Stonebridge)
  • COST – $40 per table (2 chairs included)
  • HOW – Contact Tarra Unterschute, SCA events co-ordinator, by Facebook message or at 306-291-7061 to reserve your space or request more information

A few items to note for those interested in purchasing a table:

  • Only one table per network marketing company–first come first serve (or partner with your fellow business owners)
  • Stonebridge residents will be given priority
  • Payment in cheque or cash only and due upon booking
  • The church does not allow glitter, tinsel or open flame
  • You will have to bring your own tablecloth and extension cords if needed
  • Advertising is provided by SCA via signs and social media leading up to the event

Photography added to fall programming

Photography has been added to our fall programming and registration is now available online. This is a beginner class where participants will learn the basics of photography through a new technique and theme each week. Some techniques and themes will be macro photography, people, architecture and black and white. Your own camera is required, although there are no restrictions to your equipment as the instructor will work with what you have.

  • Cost: $50
  • Day/time: Saturday 10:00 – 11:00 am
  • Location: Brightwater Senior Living (102 Wellman Crescent) and various locations around Brightwater for taking photos
  • Runs: October 17 to December 5, 2015

City of Saskatoon Growth Plan public events

The City of Saskatoon’s next round of Growth Plan public engagement is being held from October 14 to November 8, 2015.  It will feature an online survey at www.growingfwd.ca from October 14th to November 8th, and two open house-style events

The are open-house style events and no formal presentations will be given.

The city will present the proposed long-term plans and implementation priorities for a new transit system with BRT; redevelopment along our major corridors; and, a river crossing connecting 33rd Street with Preston Avenue combined with dedicated bus lanes on the University Bridge, as well as share the implementation priorities for these plans.
